Accepting Your Place in NYU Shanghai's Class of 2020

Congratulations on your offer of admission to NYU Shanghai's Class of 2020! Please read the instructions below for accepting your place in the class.

To confirm your enrollment, you would need to visit our NYUHome website to accept your offer of admission. NYU Shanghai does not require a tuition deposit, but does require a formal reply that represents your definitive commitment to reserving a place in the class.

Activate your NYU NetID and Create Your Password

If you have not already, you must activate your NYU NetID and create a password. Official communications from the University will be sent to your NYU NetID email address once you confirm your intent to enroll.

If you have already activated your NetID and created a password, you can skip to Respond to Your Offer of Admission and Confirm Your Enrollment below. If not, follow these steps:

  • You have been assigned a NetID, which is in your admissions letter. Your NetID is used to sign in to systems at NYU.

  • To activate this NetID and set your password, go to the NYU Information Technology Services (ITS) Start page (

  • Enter your NetID, click on the Start button, and follow the online instructions.

To complete the process, you will also need your date of birth and your NYU University ID number (this is also in your admissions letter).

Respond to Your Offer of Admission and Confirm Your Enrollment

All students must accept their offer of admission no later than May 1. For Early Decision admission, you must also withdraw any applications you have submitted to other colleges or universities.

To accept our offer of admission, log on to the applicant portal of NYUAlbert and click on "Admissions Offer" link in the upper right hand corner of your Application Status page, then "Accept/Decline Decision" to reserve your place in the NYU Shanghai Class of 2020.


NYU Shanghai students have guaranteed housing for all four years of undergraduate study. We will be in touch with you in the coming months with more information.

Obtain a Student Visa

All international students attending NYU Shanghai will be required to obtain a student visa. The NYU Shanghai Student Mobility team will reach out to students starting in June 2016. If you have any questions regarding your visa status, please contact the Student Mobility office directly at

AP Exam Scores for Advanced Placement

NYU Shanghai does not assign credit for the Advanced Placement (AP) Program (College Entrance Examination Board), the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, or the results of foreign maturity certificate examinations. However in some cases students may be able to substitute a higher level course for an introductory course based on their performance on one of these tests.  In order to be considered, please submit final results of the above exams as soon as they become available.  Results should be sent to:

Financial Aid Information

You may disregard the following information if you did not apply for financial aid.

Please note that the information below varies slightly for US citizens and non-US citizens (or permanent residents).

You may view your award in NYU Albert. From the main page of NYUHome, click the Academics tab, then click on Applicant Login, followed by Accept/Decline Financial Aid.  You may then select 2017 to view your financial aid award. 

You will have access to your financial aid award, provided that you filed a CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE and Noncustodial PROFILE/Waiver if applicable (the Profile(s) are required of all students wishing to be considered for scholarship and NYU grant aid)  and, if you are a US citizen or eligible non-citizen, you must also file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the relevant deadlines.

For students who have been awarded US federal financial aid - it is important that you have a thorough understanding of your award. Helpful information relating to your award can be found online at "Federal Direct Loans."

To renew your financial aid annually, you must file the required financial aid application by our published deadlines, maintain full-time enrollment status, and meet satisfactory academic progress standards.  More detailed information about the filing requirements as a returning student and satisfactory academic progress can be found online at

If you expect to receive financial support from a source outside of your family, please immediately notify the Office of Financial Support at of that assistance.  Such support may be in the form of government grants, scholarships from community organizations, or other sources.  Any such financial support from an external source will be considered in determining the amount of financial support you ultimately receive from NYU Shanghai.

If you are a non-US citizen or US permanent resident, your NYU Shanghai award on NYU Albert's Accept/Decline Financial Aid page is displayed in US Dollar.  Once you register for your Fall 2016 classes and are issued a bill through the NYU Office of the Bursar, your award amount will be converted into Chinese Yuan Renminbi (CNY).
