Matthew Belanger Assistant Dean for Emerging Media, Assistant Arts Professor, NYU Shanghai; Global Network Assistant Arts Professor, NYU. Prior to joining NYU Shanghai, he was assistant professor of media arts and technology at BMCC, City University of New York and was codirector of his own organization, Greylock Arts. He holds an MPS from New York University’s interactive telecommunications program and a BFA from the Art Institute of Boston.
Belanger’s research combines interests in physical computing and participatory media to produce networked art that explores and explains our modern condition. He is an internationally exhibited artist whose work has been featured in numerous publications including El País, the Boston Globe, and Boing Boing.
Belanger is also an experienced entrepreneur and software developer who has worked on interactive media projects for companies such as General Electric, Fidelity Investments, NYSE, and Cadbury.
